"La Romana is a popular gelateria that started in Rimini in 1947. You'll find a handful of branches around Rome including this spot in the piazza across from Basilica di Sant'Andrea della Valle on Corso Vittorio Emanuelle II. This is a very busy branch, we found queues forming outside the shop on numerous occasions. We stopped by one afternoon recently when we found this branch less busy. Tried their signature Crema Dal 1947, a nice custard flavour gelato which was quite good. Also enjoyed the Salted Caramel with pecan, a nicely textured and tasty flavour. Most enjoyed was the Pesto di Pistachio, a very creamy, heavily nutty flavour that was fantastic. Really enjoyed our gelato from this Gelateria La Romana branch as we did from our serving at their branch at Piazza della Liberta in the Prati District."

"Hands down the best gelato of my life. The texture was incredibly creamy, the flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, you can immediately taste the quality. I loved that you can choose your cone and even have it filled with melted chocolate inside, which makes the whole experience even more special. I picked the recommended flavor combination that was displayed on the board at the time, and it was absolutely perfect. No disappointment at all. I paid only €3.50, which makes the price value ratio outstanding for this level of quality. Yes, the line was quite long, but it is 100% worth the wait."

"Was my last night in Rome on my 5 day trip , visited La Romana , and even though the queue was long, it was absolutely worth it. The staff were energetic and welcoming, but one person truly stood out. The young lady who prepared my gelato was incredibly kind, smart, and engaging. Despite the crowd, she never rushed me. She explained the flavours with a smile, paid close attention to what I wanted, and made the whole moment feel relaxed. I chose Stracciatella, mango, and another flavour she personally recommended,I didn’t catch the name because it was so busy, but her suggestion was perfect. The gelato was unbelievably delicious. When I finished, I asked her name and saw it on her badge: Talia. She turned a simple gelato stop into a genuinely memorable experience. Thank you, Talia, for the amazing ice cream and the even better service."

"Definitely try it! Crema should definitely be one of the scoops. Italy makes you say every time you eat ice cream, ‘This is the best ice cream I’ve ever had!’ Then, you find another place in a different city and wonder how it’s possible, and you find one that’s even better than your previous favorite. And then you say, ‘How is this even possible?"

"Found this via our golf cart tour guide Dennis , amazing gelato. None of the fake food coloring stuff. There’s a reason they’ve been open since 1947. Pistachio is a great classic flavor, the salted caramel was a favorite for my wife and our tour guide. The 1947 cream one is an interesting vanilla esque flavor. Would recommend going to."

"Gelateria La Romana dal 1947 was a highlight of my visit because I absolutely loved the authentic and traditional flavours. It was fantastic being able to select multiple scoops to try a variety of different tastes in one go. I was particularly impressed by the option to upgrade to a chocolate cone and the choice of adding syrup inside which really elevated the experience. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for high quality gelato with excellent customization options."
